Pre-Production Complete

As we complete Zero's pre-production phase, now seems like a good moment to start sharing the process.

We put a lot of miles on the station wagon this week, with visits to our almost everyone in our supply chain:

  • Drummond Industries in Bensenville - injection mold production shop

    • Picked up enclosure plastic shots for delivery to Petersen for surface grahpics printing.

    • Quality control session on Jog Wheel plastics.

  • Comet Die in Elmhurst - injection moldmaker

    • Discussing tooling revisions to ensure Jog Wheel and Knobs fit snugly on encoder posts.

  • Newhaven Display in Elgin - OLED display vendor HQ

    • Pre-delivery meeting to finalize production OLED panel sourcing

    • Drooling over high-res TFT panels for Mk. 2 device...

  • Precision PCB in Elgin - PCB assembly house

    • Took delivery of pre-production prototype boards (approved for production!!!!)

  • Petersen Plastics in Chicago proper - surface graphics print shop

    • Took delivery of printed screen bezels

    • Initial test prints for Zero's surface graphics

Watch some video from this busy week on our Instagram.

The coming week should be focused on software (getting the Alpha 1 release out to testers), working up our marketing and financial strategy for the 2026 launch, and converting our living space from kitchen-centered coziness to full-on production fulfillment center.

This should be... interesting....
