Made in

Chicago.

From Chaka Khan, to the Hairy Who to Frankie Knuckles and Kerry James Marshall, we’re intensely proud of the collective creative output of our town.

The area’s rich manufacturing landscape is, for us, another great source of pride. With 24 industrial corridors inside city limits Chicago is known as “The City that Works.” The wealth of industrial parks running from O’Hare Airport along I-90 toward Rockford, IL lend this part of Chicagoland the moniker “the Golden Corridor.”

Of course we’re building Zero here.  How could we not?

Injection Molding

Our plastic injection molding vendor has specialized in custom tooling and state-of-the-art manufacturing since 1989. Complete, mold-to-manufacture services take place in their 34,000 square foot facility: the tooling is precision-engineered and machined and EDM-finished in 02 tool steel; after each shot is injected into the custom family mold, Zero’s ABS high-impact enclosure, knobs and fader caps are ejected and ready for assembly.

PCB Fabrication

The local manufacturer of our printed circuit board (PCB) is an internationally-respected, 30 year industry veteran.  Our PCB’s six-layer stackup is painstakingly laminated to ensure signal integrity among the high-speed data lines connecting Zero’s processor to the internal drive and RAM. Electronic components are placed and soldered to the board as it moves down the automated production line. Finally, the completed PCB assembly is inspected and ready to go into your Zero.

Quality Control

Because our two primary manufacturers are local, we are playing an in-person, hands-on role throughout the quality control process.  Myriad conversations and multiple site visits in the prototyping and Design For Manufacture (DFM) process have prepared the lines to run smoothly once production starts. We plan to continue this level of involvement through fulfillment.
